Compensation Falling Short of 9/11 Clean-Up Cancers

wtc cleanup cancer
Thousands of workers have died or become ill since the 9/11 cleanup.

In 2012, the federal government agreed to add 50 types of cancer to the Zadroga Act, the 9/11 compensation fund covering first responders and others working near Ground Zero who contracted illnesses or cancer following months of search, rescue and clean up efforts. The Zadroga Act (approved by Congress, 2010) was intended to provide much needed health evaluations, health care and medical monitoring to responders and clean-up workers. Unfortunately, some of the medical science is having a hard timekeeping up with the reality of the devastation that the unprecedented clean-up effort has caused. According to the most recent data from the World Trade Center Health Program, there are nearly 3,000 cases of cancer among firefighters, police officers, contractors and civilians who worked or lived near the site of the attacks.

Honeywell ELT Blamed for Boeing 787 Fire at Heathrow

Perhaps one reason an emergency locator transmitter might not have worked as designed upon impact of an aircraft on sea or land is if it had been the cause of the emergency in the first place. Albeit a remote possibility, this adds one more possible explanation for the disappearance of Malaysian Airline MH370 on March 8, 2014 and the absence of any transmission from the Honeywell designed ELTs. Last year, on July 12, 2013 an unoccupied Ethiopan Airlines 787 Dreamliner caught fire in what investigators would later trace back to either a set of lithium-manganese dioxide-based chemical batteries that powered the Honeywell RESCU 406® AFN Emergency Locator Transmitter or wiring installation discrepancies.”

The emergency locator transmitter has been discussed very little during the thousands of hours of media coverage for Malaysia Airline flight MH370. The transmitter’s sole purpose is to radiate a signal upon impact on land or sea. Though many “expert” scenarios suggest flight MH370 may have crashed, the question of why wouldn’t the ELT have radiated a locating signal is rarely mentioned.

Firefighters saw student alive before killing her

Attorney Justin Green on CNN talks about Asiana victim.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Stop, stop, stop! There’s a body … there’s a body right there. Right in front of you.

Those are the words a San Francisco firefighter hollered as he ran up to an oncoming firetruck as it approached the wrecked and burning Boeing 777 that was Asiana Flight 214. Inexplicably and tragically though, neither he nor the driver, nor any other firefighter on the scene took any more steps to prevent the ensuing horrific and “completely avoidable” death of the injured teenager. A recently released video shows multiple firefighters working the plane near and around 16 year old Chinese student Ye Meng Yuan’s injured body as she lay helpless on the ground near the wing.  Only minutes later, while concentrating on the burning plane, two firetrucks would run over the girl’s head, killing her.

Hughes has been an instructor at the renowned firearms training center since 1991.
